TechSoft Support Zone

The selection in Outline Fonts is not provided by TechSoft – it is just read from whatever fonts are on a computer. You can see which Outline Fonts are on a computer from Control Panel > Appearance and Personalisation > Fonts. Some of these fonts will have been provided with the Microsoft Windows Installation, others may have been purchased, or automatically installed with other software such as Adobe.

If a drawing uses an Outline Font which was available on the computer that it was created on, but isn’t available on the second computer that you are trying to load the drawing into, then a message will come up on the second computer with a warning. You then have three choices:

1. Load the missing Outline Font into the second computer. (Pay attention to any copyright details.)
   
   
2. Go back to the computer on which the drawing was created and Explode any Text by first selecting the text and then choosing Explode from the Upper Icon Toolbar as shown below. The text properties will be lost, and each letter and the text will be changed into a filled shape which does not need the Outline Font to be present.

3. Continue to work on the drawing on the second computer but don’t touch any text with the missing font. Any attempt to manipulate it will give unexpected results as it will try to use an alternative font that is available.

N.B. Some fonts are provided by TechSoft, but these are in an internal format and cannot be used by other packages. The fonts provided by TechSoft appear in the “TechSoft Fonts” selection. These are consistent between computers. For a full Font Overview, choose Help > Help Contents > Font Overview.
